Femnarlia

Enter if you dare.

In a world where the feminine spirit reigns, wildlife morph and mythical spirits transpire, nothing is ever what it seems.

Welcome to a place where you are encouraged to be yourself (respectfully of course), let your imagination run wild and the haters can simply go fuck themselves.

Wild Rhythms

(an excerpt)

It was in that moment, as the snow fell, the bodies began to dance with the wild rhythm of nature. There was no judgement or rules just an oozing softness in the calm of the moment. The forest vines ran wild and the jellyfish drifted amongst the snowflakes as silence began to fall.

While she watched her curves roll with the sounds, in no particular direction she could feel the leaves rise within her thighs and buds beginning to burst from her breasts. She felt powerful responding to the movement of those around. Elements of bright green splashed across her face, intertwined with pastel hues that calmed and soothed her limbs. In those moments she felt free, yet ravaged by a desire to completely let go amongst the rhythms of the wild.

It began with a sketch…

Many moons ago I began sketching everything that was brewing deep inside. Femnarlia is abound with water and sea motifs, detailed patterns, feathers, fur and plant life. Where there is darkness I believe is always hope, which is reflected in the rebuilding of bones, flesh and mythical beings that exist in these starry night sketches.

Characters evolved, colour consumed, a world was born…

Kilary, Queen Tundraia, Lamarn, Saharn, Valmein, Yume, Kumomi, Fuwafuwa…just some of the characters that exist within the magical world of Femnarlia.

Coming soon in the form of a podcast and maybe a novel. I’m slowly typing away their story…scroll down to find out more.

Art School, Galleries & Residencies

Winding the clocks right back, Femnarlia began when I was completing my Master of Art in 2013…before I even knew what I was doing.

Since then my illustration and writing has continued to evolve through my ongoing exploration of feminism, chronic illness (Endometriosis, Colitis & Hashimotos) and environmental themes with particular attention to Australian flora and fauna.

I completed my Master of Art in Time Based Media at the University of New South Wales, Art & Design in 2015. I have since exhibited at various shows including Contemporary Art Station Tokyo Edition, The Other Art Fair Sydney, a solo show at Gaffa Gallery, Sydney, BEAMS Festival and Horizon Festival. I was selected in 2019 to attend the international artist residency, Arteles, in Finland undertaking the New Course program.

These days I have taken a step back from exhibiting my work and now focus on a mix of commercial creative projects and continuing to work on Femnarlia as a passion project in my downtime.

Femnarlia | The Podcast

Listen to the tales from deep within the world of Femnarlia as told by the main characters. Each week I will share a story as I slowly make my way through the development of the story, which maybe will be a book one day. In the meantime you can take a peak at my creative process as shared throughout my journal…

Follow the journey.
