Poem questioning the concept of ‘consent’ told through her eyes.

Brooke Krumbeck - Illustration - Sydney - Consent

Welcome to the jungle,

Chaos surrounding nature,

Words here are lacking,

Squashed by a lack of understanding,

Trapped,

Eyes embedded deep within her breasts,

Soft dappled ears blowing in the breeze,

Floating endlessly,

Hands wrap deep into her sweaty crevasses,

Uninvited,

Feminine is to be respected,

On consent,

Living within an astrological myth,

What was once grounded,

Fades,

She imagines a better place,

Beyond the poison,

Because she didn't know what she could say,

She did not feel of this world,

Floating,

Confronted by a late night admission,

You know what I am feeling?

She awaits the light of a new day,

Lucidly entering into a dream space,

Redirection,

Control has been re-shaped,

Yet there is a reluctance to begin again,

No! The gears lock in,

Fierce power in her limbs garner,

Focused,

It happens before she even realises,

The breath of resilience,

Power cradled in her hands,

Is that you?

Feminine,

Never underestimate her potential,

Intertwined within the natural world,

Wild rhythms of nature reverberating,

Effortlessly poised to those that challenge,

Unwavering.
